Surgical procedures of the abdominal wall, including inguinal and femoral hernias, as well as ventral and incisional hernias, using all available surgical techniques, including laparoscopic methods. Repair of parastomal hernias. Abdominal wall reconstruction in cases of extensive postoperative defects following multiple surgeries on the anterior abdominal wall, including muscle-fascial flap transpositions for abdominal wall closure. Scar revision and skin-subcutaneous flap transpositions. Reconstructive procedures for postpartum anterior abdominal wall insufficiency (PPAWI – diastasis recti, umbilical hernia, skin stretch marks, and panniculus of the abdominal wall), primarily with the use of synthetic implants to prevent recurrence of diastasis. Concomitant abdominal surgeries performed alongside abdominal wall reconstructions (e.g., procedures on the stomach, intestines, gallbladder and biliary tract, stoma closure, and gastrointestinal tract reconstruction), excluding oncological resections for malignant tumors. 

Coordinator of the Hernia Treatment Team at the Department of General, Endocrine and Transplant Surgery at the Medical University of Gdańsk from 2000 to 2009.
Advisor to the Pomeranian Health Insurance Fund in 2001–2002 (in the field of hernia treatment contracting).
Coordinator of the hernia team at the hospital in Wejherowo from 2012 to 2015.

From 2004 to 2005, the first Executive Director and co-author of the statute of the Polish Hernia Club.
Member of the Scientific Council of the Polish Hernia Club (2005–2014).
Since 2007, Board Member of the European Hernia Society.
From 2009 to 2015, Board Member of the Section of Videosurgery of the Association of Polish Surgeons.

Author and co-author of over 50 scientific papers in the field of hernia treatment (including the Polish nomenclature and classification of hernias, the Polish Standard for Hernia Treatment, and epidemiological studies in the Pomeranian Voivodeship from 1997 to 2003).

Member of scientific groups responsible for introducing treatment standards for inguinal hernias (EHS) and laparoscopic treatment of abdominal hernias (IEHS).

Author of the worldwide classification of parastomal hernias.

Received a scientific achievement award at the European Hernia Society Congress in Turin in 2005.

Honored with the Rydygier and Schramm Medal (2014) for contributions to the Medical University of Lviv, honorary membership of the Ukrainian Hernia Society, and the title of honorary professor for contributions to the development of hernia surgery in Ukraine.

Awarded a diploma from the Prof. Szarecki Chapter for outstanding contributions to the development of Polish herniology (2014).

Earned a PhD in 2002 based on research on the use of synthetic implants in hernia surgery.

Currently leads six original research programs related to hernia repair.

Obtained habilitation degree (2014) based on a series of publications on the use of macroporous implants in inguinal hernia surgery.
