Event details

Following exhibitions in Venice, Orléans, Lviv, Toruń and Gdańsk, METAMISTIC returns to the city where its vision first took shape.

METAMISTIC CONFLUENCE is an immersive contemporary art exhibition set within the remarkable interiors of the Main Town Hall. UV light, sound, monumental architecture and a large-scale installation of art cubes created by Jacek Kornacki come together to form a space where history meets the present.

This year’s edition is dedicated to Gdańsk — a city shaped by the meeting of cultures, languages, religions and ideas. Like rivers flowing into the sea, Viking, Dutch, German, Kashubian and Polish stories and identities have converged here over the centuries. Today, new communities continue to shape the fabric of the city.

METAMISTIC does not seek to tell a single story. It asks: which symbols, values and experiences do we place at the heart of our collective memory today? What shapes us more — ideas or biology? History or the future? Heritage or choice?

The exhibition invites us to reflect on how the identities of a city and its people take shape. It explores memory, change, culture and the ongoing process of creating meaning.
